I can't believe it is almost time for us to go camping for the Thanksgiving weekend. Here is some information we hope will be helpful. Steve and I will pay for all three camping sites. As the numbers dwindled, that raised the price for each of those still camping, so we'll take care of it for you. I'm going to do a major CostCo trip and get lots of kid and adult snacks, hot chocolate, paper products, and basics for lunch and dinner meals. Dawn is going to bring lots of cereal and bread for everyone. There is shopping close by, so whatever you specifically need for your kids that you don't have will be easy to get. We will ask you to contribute to Steve whatever you think is reasonable for your meals. Monika and Dusty...since you don't get the "camping discount" and are paying a hotel after traveling from Utah, we won't ask a food contribution from you. Below are my schedule/dinner menu thoughts. Please write back with your thoughts and any meal or idea you would like to take responsibility for planning or fixing:

I wish I was coming!! It would be great to get away especially right now. Thanks for the comment on my blog, let me know when you figure out how I can post on here too! Have a blast at San Elijo!
Fish and Chicken one night for dinner, we have the fish! We can bring the milk, juice, eggs for breakfast and we plan on cooking hot breakfasts in the morning.
Dawn
I've been thinking about this today and keep coming full circle so here's what I've come up with: I could buy food (pre-made non-refrigeration kind) but it's easier to simply give you money instead of transporting it (since you'll be making a shopping trip anyhow) and anything I "make" risks spoiling on the trip - plus I'll probably be using cooler space for travel food. So I think I'll pack enough food for travel and for Wed evening/Thurs morning. Then Thursday evaluate where the gaps may be and visit the grocery store for both my supplies and what I can contribute to the family meals. Please don't mistake this for not wanting to contribute - I just get locked up when trying to decide what to put my stamp on :) I am SO excited and think almost daily about what to pack, what to eat, games, travel items etc. It's going to be so much fun both enjoying my "before" family and getting to know the NOW family better. I am looking forward to it more than I can describe :) Things I'm planning on bringing that might be of interest to others: a dutch oven, the camping stove we received (and a pan or two), games, camp chairs, beach toys, "mini-tents" for Drew (and other kids) to play with and just enough toys to keep him entertained when I need him to stay in one place for 10 min. Hmmm that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Just to confirm Drew and I WILL be camping (lets hope it doesn't mean sleeping in the explorer so other campers CAN sleep lol). Ok so I think I've violated comment length protocol :D Holler if I somehow managed to leave anything out. :)
Hi Dad & Dayle! And everyone else! I would still like to do the stuffing in a dutch oven at the campsite if you want me to. I can bring everything to make it. We can bring rolls too as we'll have to visit a grocery store Wednesday night anyhow.
We're staying at the Residence Inn in Oceanside (13 miles away I think) and our breakfast is provided there. We should be arriving later on Wednesday. We probably won't be around for dinner Saturday night as we'll be heading up to Anaheim to stay the night there. Just an FYI for food planning. :)
We are sooo excited to come and I'm really hoping for some games of maffia around the campfire at night (Jack & I may stay with Nat one night too to get the full experience!)
Love you all and can't wait to see you!
We will bring cucumber salad to go with the Hamburger/hotdog night. Mike want to bring green beans and bacon for Thanksgiving. Holcomb family tradition..... We can cook those on our stove and grill...
Fish and Chicken night will replace hot-dog and hamburger night. The Cucumber Salad can go fine with that.Green beans for Thanksgiving Dinner will be great!
I think we'll move foil dinners to Friday so Monika and Dusty can be there.
Wish I could come! I am sure I will be missed severely! JK, LOL
